2 folks said that the end of my message yesterday really got them thinking.
I asked folks to consider what are arguably the three most important days of your life...
First, the day you were born.
Without this one not much else is going to happen in your life. But many people do not see or experience their life as a gift. Struggles, pain, depression, and so many other things can steal the joy of life. Whole belief systems and world views are based on an understanding that life is a pointless struggle. God doesn't paint that picture of creation. Jesus doesn't see life that way. May all of us come to the place were we can celebrate the gift of life. Instead of saying, "I never asked to be born anyways!" may we say, "Praise God for my life!"
Second, the day you were born again.
Jesus says that to enter into a relationship with Him we must have a spiritual awakening or birth (See John 3). He called this being born again- a complete transformation which occurs when the Holy Spirit comes into our lives, re-news our souls, re-directs our lives, and seals our eternity with God. Some people know the moment it happens- usually if the re-birth occurs in adulthood. For many others is a growing awareness to the life we have in Jesus. Either way, what matters most is knowing that our lives are now kept in Christ.
Third, the day you come to understand why you were born again.
The day or that season when you gain that revelation, that insight, that deeper sense of calling that makes sense of your life- who you are, why you are the way you are, what you are called to do, the works prepared in advance for you.
This is what it means to discover what Ephesians 2:8-10 is all about...
8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
God's work is your salvation.
Your work is to serve Him.
You can't mess up this plan- your works are prepared in advance for you!
How awesome is that!
very nice - I'm going to use that!
