This Sunday we are going to offer baptism during our morning worship service.
If you have never been baptized, but have become a follower of Jesus,
you need to do this!
It's biblical. Jesus teaches us,
Matthew 28:18... "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."Jesus modeled baptism for us,
Matthew 3:18 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him.The disciples modeled baptism for us, and God's Spirit comes upon is in a unique way when we are faithfully baptized,
Acts 2:38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.Baptism tells the world what God has done for us, and we should seek to be baptized as soon as we give our lives to Jesus,
Acts 2:41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.And so again, I ask you,
if God has moved in your life.
Make a move toward God.
Tell the world what He's done.
Tell the world what you believe.
Tell the world who you are in Him.
Acts 22:16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.'Baptism is the most biblical and faithful expression of our life in Jesus.
It marks and and makes us a part of the body of Christ.
It's not magic.
But it's deeply spiritual.
And something deeply spiritual happens when we make this public stand.
Romans 6:3 ...don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.If you want to know more about baptism, and prepare for this step of faith,
come to my place Wednesday night.
