Values: The Connection Card

Let's look at a value of our church through something we do.

Every week we ask everyone in the worship service to fill out a Connection Card.
It has space for your name and contact info, and a box to check if you're a "regular."
You can write comments, questions or prayer requests.
Everyone is asked to hand the Card to one of the Greeters on their way out after the service.
So here's the question,

"Why do we ask everyone to fill out a Connection Card every week?"

You might be thinking, "It's because you want to know if I was at worship."
Yes, we do. But that is not the PRIMARY reason we ask everyone to register their attendance.

The main reason is this:

When "regulars" fill out a card,
visitors are more likely to share their contact information!

Imagine you're a visitor, and you hear the person up front ask everyone to take a minute and fill out a card. Then you look around and everyone around you is filling out a card.
What do you do?
You fill out the card!

And what do we do with that information?
We send them an email and thank them for visiting.
Then we send a handwritten note and a gift card to Starbucks.
Then we call them if they asked any specific questions or shared a prayer request.
Then we send them a letter to follow up one month after they first share their contact information!

So here's the value: WE LOVE PEOPLE!
We can only follow up with and serve people if we know who they are!
If we can't make this connection with our visitors, we can't fulfill our mission.

Because we want to love people, we need to know who the people are that come to Connections.
