Prayer... and a contest

I've noticed on hiking trips that the third day is always the hardest.
Day one you are pumped and eager to go.
The thrill of the first day carries you into day two.
But after two days on the trail you are dirty, stinky and tired.
Day three is always the hardest day on a week long hike.

So if you woke up this morning, grabbed your Week of Awe booklet, and were less than thrilled to do this...again.
Then I think you are pretty normal.

But I do hope you'll press on through the "hump day."
On the fourth day of the hike you seem to find renewed strength and passion for the trail.

After today the texts will seem more familiar, and therefore, more like old friends.
You'll be excited to give yourself permission to meet with God first thing in the morning.
You'll look forward to taking a break half way through your day to read Psalm 145.
You'll be watching TV at night, but you'll start to think about how much more exciting it is to read the Gospel of Mark, and how much sweeter it is to talk with God in prayer.

So my encouragment to you is to make it through the hump-day and you'll feel like you've hit a new stride tomorrow.

And maybe that stride will carry over into next week.
Wouldn't that be Awe-some!

BONUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a transmission error in the Week of Awe booklet!  Can you find it?
The first person to identify the error gets a free worship CD this Sunday!
Just post your reply here.

  1. Do "you" part under repentance?
The extra space before the comma under Morning Prayer?
"Everyday" instead of "every day" under mid-day prayer?
Re-connect instead of reconnect in the same spot?
    ????
