Malcolm Gladwell calls them "Connectors."(I learned that after we launched our church.)
They are the folks know a lot of folks.
But they don't just know them, they know about them and have shown a genuine interest in them.
They are the people who sit next to us on the plane, and next thing we know, they have drawn out of us our whole life story.
And we were happy to share!
Our church, Connections, has been blessed by a few people that could be classified as genuine connectors. When one has shown up to our church and become involved it makes a immediate and noticable difference. One week they show up alone. The next week they bring a whole entourage.
I can think of one woman who I can directly link to more than a dozen people now a part of our church. That's rare. That's awesome.
But all of us can be a connector, even if it's just with a few.
We have a group that's been coming to the evening worship.
We only a few weeks in, but each week they have added to their group by one or two.
Now they even get together for a meal before the worship service.
None of them might called a "connector" by Gladwell's definition.
But as a group they have multiplied their power of connection.
And now they've even started their own "Connection Group," even if it doesn't carry the official title.
What difference could you make by deciding to connect with just 2 or 3 more people in a focused, intentional, prayerful way? To just go that extra mile and give them a call, go out for coffee and take a special interest in their life. And to be very open and honest about your desire for them to know God.
To share your love of Jesus.
Your love for your church.
Never doubt the power of one person connecting with another, with the desire to share God's love.
It's changes lives, and it's building our church.
