Go...

This is a note to you.
You were in worship 2 weeks ago.
We looked at the story of Jesus and the woman caught in adultery.
It was a pretty ugly scene.
She was set up by wicked men. Shame on them.
She wasn't totally innocent. She was culpable for her decisions.

But the price she was going to pay WAY out-weighted the crime.
She was looking at her own death.

But Jesus saved her.
And Jesus forgave her.
"Neither do I condemn you."

They were words you needed to hear. Words we all need to hear.
No one forgives like Jesus.

Then he said something else.
"Go and leave your life of sin."

When you heard that you realized you were forgiven, but you also realized you needed to make a change.
You needed to go.
You needed to get away from that habit, that relationship, that store, that group.

But what seemed so clear on Sunday suddenly seemed vague on Monday.

Well, it's time to go.
It's time to remember you are forgiven.
And so that you don't slip into a self-defeating pattern of shame-inducing "sin, repent, repeat,"
it's time to finally go.

I'm praying for you today.
(I know that can sound so cheesy, but it's true.)

P.S.
Have you been following the 80/20 Church Core conversation?
Give yourself time to soak this up- Steve's on part four of five.
