Are you going missional?

One of the ways we define Connections is a "Missional" church.
A missional church is one that doesn't just do missions.
A missional church understands itself to be the mission.

Think about it this way:
Missions is the organizing principle around which everything the believer is and the church does.
Now missions isn't something we do, but it's who we are.

We worship, in mission...
We serve, in mission...
We go to work, in mission...
We play with our kids, in mission...
We befriend our neighbors, in mission...
We have a date with our spouse, in mission...
We go on a bike ride, in mission...

When you really get this, I mean really get this, it can drive you crazy!
"YOU mean I have to think about serving God when I go out on a date?" Yes.
This doesn't let us off the hook of engaging in missions.
Instead, it is the maddening proposition and understanding that EVERYTHING matters to God and must be given over to Him in service and devotion.

Here's a graphic...

You can read my message from Sunday, which is mostly about missional living, at our articles site,
http://articles.connectionschurch.ca/category/sermons/
or listen at
http://www.connectionschurch.ca/sermons/

Here are the questions to ask yourself now, or after reading/listening to the message:
  • Are you trying to live out your faith 168 hours of the week?  How, or why not?
  • How can you improve in living out the Great Commandment?  In what areas are you not showing love for God, neighbor and/or self?
  • Does the Great Commission define the mission of your life?
  • Does the vision of Connections (Connecting with God...People... the World) make sense and make you want to be involved in each essential area of our ministry (worship, home groups and volunteering)?
  • How can our church get from here (worship) to there (the hood) better than we are right now?  Or, how can our church get from here (the way things are) to there (the way want them to be)?
  • Do you personally feel awake, equipped and fully nourished, as enacted in the Lord’s Supper?  If not, what needs to happen in your life this Fall?
