Jesus invites us to follow him (Matthew 4:18-22).
It's the starting point of our walk with him.
Come with all our questions.
Just follow.
Then a lot of those questions will get answered;
and some just won't matter anymore.
In that invitation comes one promise:
"Follow me and I will make you fishers of men."
So we have to ask ourselves, if we aren't catching any fish,
how closely are we following?
This isn't about laying a guilt trip on Christians.
But it should cause us to reflect upon our lives and our devotion to Jesus.
Jesus makes it pretty clear: if we're following, we will be fishing.
If we're fishing, we should be catching.
So when was the last time you made a catch?
When was the last time you got a nibble?
When was the last time you went out to the pond?
This Sunday we are going to talk about the "bait" that all Christians are given to use:
"Love God; love your neighbor as yourself."
Genuine love will always get a nibble.
And if we believe the promise of Jesus, it will even bring in a great catch.
