The other week I spoke on "How Grace Works."
Since there were only a few folks there (Literally, our smallest gathering EVER!)
And since a few people told me the "quiz" at the end was very helpful,
I think it's time for everyone to take the test.
So here's how it works:
Are you trying to work for God's grace? (Do you feel you have to prove something to get God's love? Do you think you need to earn God's blessing? DO you think God gives out rewards, instead of gifts?)
Or,
are you allowing God's grace to work for you? (Have you accepted the gift of God's love, and that he's simply going to love you no matter what? Do you realize that you can't earn the favor of a perfect and holy God, so you must simple allow his favor to fall upon you?)
Look at the following lists. Examine your life and determine where you are at in these contrasting positions. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself bouncing from side-to-side. Most of us have areas where grace has flooded our lives, but others where we still think we can, and must, earn God's favor. Use this exercise to help you let God work his grace deeper into your heart:
"Working" for God's Grace Allowing God's Grace to work for you
1. Holier than Thou 1. Humble
2. Critical 2. Encouraging
3. Loathes Others 3. Likes Others
4. Unforgiving 4. Eager to forgive
5. Lonely and Secretive 5. Joyful and Communal
6. Prayers of petition 6. Prayers of adoration
7. Insecure faith 7. Assurance of salvation
Many Christians rightly profess that we are saved by grace alone (Eph. 2:1-10).
But functional we are trying to live out our faith through our own works.
But grace doesn't really have a hold of us until we embrace the revelation that we are not only saved by grace, but we must live by grace as well.
Think if it this way:
Grace is our regeneration;
Grace is our justification;
Grace is our sanctification;
and Grace is our glorification!
Very good!
