Merry Christmas

Connectors,

One of the classic Christmas texts is found in Isaiah 9:
6 For to us a child is born,
   to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

There are over 250 names/titles given for Jesus throughout the bible.
I just can't seem to make it past that first one this morning,
"His name is wonderful.)

Truly, everything about Jesus fills us with wonder...
  • His birth is wonderful.  At just the right time, with all the right pieces coming into place, God entered our world, Immanuel, with us.
  • His life is wonderful.  Loving the lost, serving the Father, showing us what real humanity actually looks like.
  • His death was wonderful.  Betrayed, beaten, hung on a cross, all for our sins.
  • His resurrection was wonderful.  Death could not defeated the Lord of life!
  • His ascension was wonderful.  Even now he intercedes on our behalf at the right hand of the Father.
  • And finally, his return will be the most wonderful thing our eyes will ever behold, and our world will ever experience!
I pray that this Christmas; at a worship service, in reading the story, in telling the story to your kids, in exchanging gifts and sharing a meal with family and friends- I pray that your hearts are filled with the wonder of it all.  I pray you can do nothing less than give Him your life, and love Him with your whole heart, soul, mind and strength.

Merry Christmas!
In Wonder of it All,
George

Here's a link to read the Christmas story in Luke 2.

And here's a nicely done video of a reading and a few reflections on the Christmas story from Northpoint Church.
(It's 5 minutes, and well worth it.)
