Connectors,
One of the classic Christmas texts is found in Isaiah 9:
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
There are over 250 names/titles given for Jesus throughout the bible.
I just can't seem to make it past that first one this morning,
"His name is wonderful.)
Truly, everything about Jesus fills us with wonder...
- His birth is wonderful. At just the right time, with all the right pieces coming into place, God entered our world, Immanuel, with us.
- His life is wonderful. Loving the lost, serving the Father, showing us what real humanity actually looks like.
- His death was wonderful. Betrayed, beaten, hung on a cross, all for our sins.
- His resurrection was wonderful. Death could not defeated the Lord of life!
- His ascension was wonderful. Even now he intercedes on our behalf at the right hand of the Father.
- And finally, his return will be the most wonderful thing our eyes will ever behold, and our world will ever experience!
Merry Christmas!
In Wonder of it All,
George
Here's a link to read the Christmas story in Luke 2.
And here's a nicely done video of a reading and a few reflections on the Christmas story from Northpoint Church.
(It's 5 minutes, and well worth it.)
