You Need a Prayer Plan

You have a plan for you or your kids education.
You have a plan for your finances.
You have an escape plan in case of a fire for your house.
You probably already have plans for Spring Break!

Do you have a plan for prayer?
This week's worship service was all about getting on a prayer plan.
The model outlined in the bible is pretty intensive,
"Pray without ceasing!" (1 Thes. 5:17)

So how you do get to the place where you pray all the time everywhere?
You pray sometime somewhere,
just as Jesus taught his followers to do.

So here's the plan:
Morning: affirm your faith with the Greatest Commandment, then pray the way Jesus taught his followers, and then go through your bible reading plan or devotional  (See last week's message to learn about a bible reading plan).

Afternoon: affirm your faith and say the Lord's Prayer again, then read the chapter in Proverbs that corresponds to the day of the month (for example, here's Proverbs 23)

Evening: you got it- affirm your faith and say the Lord's Prayer again, then write in a prayer journal to keep track of all those requests.  It doesn't need to be much, just a few lines is often enough.

(You can read or listen to the message at our website, www.connectionschurch.ca)

If you are ready to grow your faith in 2011 the tools have all been given to us:
Follow Jesus.
Invite others to meet Him.
Read the bible.
Pray.
And next week we'll cover one more essential growth tool:

Sacrificial giving!
