"It is precisely of the eternity outside time that everything in time becomes valuable and important and meaningful. Therefore, Christianity makes it of urgent importance that everything we do here should be rightly related to what we eternally are. 'Eternal life' is the sole sanction for the values of this life."
~ Dorothy Sayers
An artist named Pierce Pettis composed a beautiful album called "Everything Matters." On a snowy night one winter we watched him perform to a crowd of about 20 in a cafe in Wenham Massachusetts.
The whole album is a collection of songs stating that everything we do in life do matters- to God, to others, to ourselves.
It is perhaps the greatest misconception of the afterlife as described in the bible, or misinterpretation, to think that it de-values the present life.
The biblical story composes an an album of life where everything matters.
The thoughts, actions and relationships that we initiate in this world echo throughout eternity.
How we live, how we love, how we serve, how we shop, everything, it all matters.
Heaven means that human life, from the smallest act of worship or service, to the greatest acts of benevolence to humanity, all matters to God.
