Introducing Luke Holst

Luke Holst is joining our team as our Director of Worship!

Our Worship and Stewardship Teams started a search to fill this position in February.  By the time we hit March we had more applicants than we expected for a part time position.  God blessed us with several strong candidates who were genuinely excited by what they saw happening at Connections, and who were eager to be a part.

Several candidates had the skills, but we were looking for the person that really had the fit for the Connections vision and culture.

Right when we were ready to run second interviews the fire struck.
The process was put on hold, and we went into survival mode.

Then, before Easter, we set our sights back on finding the right person.

Last week we extended an offer to Luke.
And now a new chapter begins in the story of our mission!

Luke is finishing up a double major in music and theology at Heritage College, and recently finished up an internship with a local church (West Park).  What made Luke stand out and seem like a great fit with Connections?

First, Luke has a heart for the lost.  Luke has a rather dramatic story of how he came to faith.  He wants worship and music at Connections to build bridges into the community and to resonate with the hearts of people looking for God.

Second, Luke has a heart for God.  He is unapologetic when to comes to the the priority of worship.  He is passionate about growing a church around the celebration of God.  A church that grows in worship is a church that grows in every other good thing.

Third, Luke has a love for mission.  He has spent time in places as diverse as inner city Toronto to Africa.  When we explained that Connections does just "do" missions, rather, Connections "is" mission, he lit up!  He gets it.  We are living the mission of God's love in Jesus Christ every day in every way.

There is a lot more to Luke, and we believe that we'll be blessed through his leadership in music and worship.

We welcome Luke and his wife Christina to the Connections crew.
FYI, today is Christina's birthday,
and next Sunday, his first day leading worship, is their first anniversary!

Also, Luke will be having a guitar recital May 14, 7pm at West Park Church, 955 Gainsborough Rd in the youth auditorium.

Let's show him some love and be there!
